Growing Communities entry-level organic market garden training

Growing Communities is a not-for-profit social enterprise with a large fruit and veg scheme, Hackney market gardens, a farm in Dagenham, a weekly organic farmers market and a wholesale distribution hub. Our two small market gardens are situated in local parks in Hackney (London). We seek to connect Londoners with their food and its provenance and to give them access to fruit and veg that is grown in a sustainable way, while paying farmers a fair price for their produce.

We deliver informal training opportunities every year at our market gardens and our Dagenham farm in entry-level horticulture with an emphasis on growing mixed salad leaves. This is typically 1 day a week for 6-8 months. The training is not certified and also includes an understanding of supply chains and the wider good food system.
