The Medicinal Forest Garden Trust aims to promote sustainable cultivation and harvest of healing plants, especially trees and shrubs. Many herbal medicines are wild-harvested and forest habitats are under threat while demand for botanical products continues to rise worldwide. The Medicinal Forest Garden Trust offers specialist advice to assist forest gardening and permaculture design with medicinal plants suited for a temperate climate.
The Medicinal Forest Garden Design Course introduces a range of medicinal trees and shrubs and can help you in identifying potential for growth of healing plants. It will be of interest to foresters, gardeners, growers, smallholders keen on self-help or exploring the potential for a herbal business. The course provides permaculture design tips, advice for successful establishment and ways of monitoring progress so that you can adapt as needed. No special experience is needed to complete the 10 lessons which include downloads and practical activities. The course costs £45 and includes opportunities to join some live online presentations. The course instructor is Anne Stobart, an experienced herbal practitioner and grower, author of Trees and Shrubs That Heal (2023). Enrol online and start anytime.
Further short courses are available in harvesting and preparing herbal remedies, and explaining the healing properties of trees. See the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust website for more details and enrolment.
